When dogs p away?

my dog died a year ago now and we took her body to the pound (animal refuge) and i cant stop thinking about it it makes me so upset cause i dont no were she is? were do they take the bodies ? were do they go? what do they do with them?? please answer if you no? and were would her soul be?? i dont believe in heaven but i hope there is one ???
