Does the figure "Lord or Archangel Michael" transcend all religion or was he manufactured by Christianity?

It was my thought he was ONLY mentioned in the CHRISTIAN BIBLE, and is therefore governed by the rules and laws put out by Christian religions. Otherwise, you are just coloring outside the lines thinking you are an artist when you amount to scribbles.
